Could you ever image that someone’s poor dental health could lead to keeping them out of prison?

Well, it happened.

Rapper Lil’ Wayne had a combination of eight root canals, a number of dental implants redone, and new implants added.  In interviews, Lil’ Wayne has admitted to having a severe “sweet tooth,” which definitely has contributed to his poor dental health.  Under his $150,000 diamond and platinum “grill,” which is a slang term for a gold or platinum plate that is molded for your teeth, Lil’ Wayne had few and rotting teeth left.

His prison sentence has been pushed back to March 2, 2010, in order for him to heal from his restorative and cosmetic dentistry procedures.  Is this controversial?  Absolutely.  Can infections of the teeth and gums get so bad it can lead to serious illness or death?  Absolutely.
