Laser Dentists

Lasers have become the latest tool in the dentist’s armamentarium.  A highly focused beam of light delivers surgical precision.  Adjusting the settings allows the dentist to customize the use of this wonderful tool.  You see, lasers are far more comfortable and effective.  Dentistry is using them for cosmetic dentistry and the treatment of diseased tissues – both hard and soft.

On hard tissues like enamel, lasers can remove decay and shape the tooth for placement of the filling or porcelain restoration.  They can even be used to seal the tooth structure against sensitivity.  Your gums can benefit too.  Properly adjusted lasers remove diseased gum tissue, abnormal growths and excess gums that cause esthetic concerns.  Lasers also whiten teeth and can ease the pain of TMJ dysfunction.

Lasers are so comfortable to use for the patient that oftentimes no anesthetic is need and no stitches either.  Due to the intrinsic functions, there is a much lower risk of infection and bleeding after treatment so healing is much faster.

Cosmetic dentists welcomed lasers as a critical tool for patient comfort and customizing the patient’s smile.  The additional training required to use these precision instruments includes technique and technology.  While being the first to have a laser is a costly investment the benefit to the patient has stirred many highly qualified cosmetic dentists to pursue it.  Ask your dentist if laser dentistry is an option for the care you need.
